Chesterfield Montessori School

Partnering with CMS

Parenting can be hard sometimes, finding the right school can make it easier. We are a school who wants to help you be better parents and assist your family with inevitable hardships that life brings.

Our Mission

Montessori parents observing their child at work

Keeping in line with our mission and Montessori philosophy, our program strives to maintain continuity and healthy communication between the school and the home. This is attained though our many opportunities for parents and families to get involved and regular communication from the classroom guides and assistances that your child interacts with daily.

Not every school is passionate about helping families thrive, but it is something central to our mission at CMS. We are looking for families searching for a partnership that involves helping your family, as well as promoting Dr. Montessori’s vision for global peace, human development and human rights.

Professional, Dedicated Staff

We are committed to an ongoing process of self-examination and growth as individuals, and as an organization. Everyone at CMS is involved in creating the dynamic partnership between your family and the school.

All of our classrooms is guided by a teacher who has a Diploma from Association Montessori International, the organization started by Dr. Montessori to continue her work. The staff who support the classrooms, the office and our Extended Care programs are also dedicated to respecting and empowering children by following core Montessori principles.

CMS is Great Place to Work®-Certified™, meaning we are recognized as an employer who creates an outstanding company culture and work experience. We are the only school in Missouri to hold this distinction and one of only two Montessori schools nationwide. Certification is a two-step process that includes surveying our employees and completing a short questionnaire about the workforce.

“The adult, the child, and the environment are a trinity. They should be considered as one.” – Dr. Maria Montessori

The “toddler” phase of a young child’s life is brief yet crucial. Newly mobile, they can move through the world, seeing and touching things that were not apparent to them a few months ago.

It is very important to realize that toilet independence is liberating for the child (and the adult!), as the child no longer has to walk around with dirty diapers and rely on the adult to clean them. The result of being able to accomplish this human act will make your child so proud of themselves.

The outdoors, with its endless wonders, is the ultimate prepared environment, fostering exploration, creativity, and physical well-being. These experiences collectively embody Chesterfield Montessori School’s approach, nurturing well-rounded, curious and responsible individuals.

My wife and I love CMS for its strong academics, unique extracurriculars, and amazing teachers. This well rounded education also focuses on character development and emotional intelligence, which is supported by highly qualified and trained staff. The positive work environment at CMS is validated by the fact the school has earned the Great Place to Work certification two years in a row.
